Today is March 19, 2010; it marks the "Four Years" milestone of our marriage! Wow, time flies, man...It feels like just yesterday when we first met, and now suddenly the number add up to four! I'm astounded right now...
So today, the original plan was to have lunch buffet at International Gourmet Buffet. We've been monitoring this restaurant for so long. But...this morning I woke up with a sudden sore throat, and my body is aching all over. I don't think I would enjoy a scrumptious meal if I have trouble swallowing *gulp--ouch!*. Not nice...
Hubby was kind enough to console me and said anything is okay. So, I decided to tweak a regular instant noodle meal with love for our anniversary. What a humble celebration! *sigh* (not so proud of that...)
But soon I realized that it's not the external factor that should make you happy, but the joy from inside and the presence of each other that count.
The noodle itself ended up to be really delicious, and we both liked it so muchhh...Here's how I made it:
Two types of instant noodles: Thai style Mama, and Maruchan Shrimp flavor. They're cheap and good! I bought Mama noodles for $5.50/box (20 packets); Maruchan is only $1.25 for 6 packets.
While boiling some water on the stove, I prepare the additional ingredients: garlic and candle nuts. These two are wicked combination for Indonesian noddle soup. Since I don't have food processor, I use my ancient but useful mortar and pestle from my grand-aunt:
This traditional way of grinding is pretty healthy too, you'll develop muscle if you use mortar and pestle quite often ^^ Anyway, grind the garlic and candle nuts to form a paste:
Into the boiling water are: the soup base (shrimp & tom yam), sliced tomato, sliced lettuce, two eggs, diced tofu, sesame oil, garlic powder, and a drizzle of honey. The soup is clear before I put the garlic+candle nuts paste:
Clear soup is not that appetizing for me. I like it thick and dense, just like Mi Jowo (Indonesian noodle soup) or Mee Siam (Singapore Bee Hoon Soup). Once I put the paste in (and also a little bit of sweet soy sauce), the color change beautifully. Yum! Stir it around and add chopped green onion as garnish:
Well, it's just a bowl of noodle, but if you make it with love, it tastes like a million dollar! :) It's for you baby!
Congratulations to Eng and Dessy! Have a blessed marriage for years and years to come..Many children too...and we'll see our dreams come true! Love dear...xoxo!
Happy Anniversary!!!!
